T. T. S. Fear Index Revised

By on July 13, 2010

The Tactical Timing System Fear Index was revised today. The index is designed to measure investor fear and euphoria. The TTS Fear Index is based on a scale of 1 (major complacency or euphoria) to 10 (extreme fear). The components of the proprietary indicator reached extremes never observed before during the 2008-2009 crisis. Therefore the component’s ranges were revised to more fully and accurately reflect all possible outcomes. In addition, another component showing strong reverse correlation with the market was included in the index.

Today, the TTS Fear Index shows a reading of 4.2.

The TTS Fear Index currently consists of five indicators that show a degree of real-time correlation to investor sentiment. Each are given equal weighting in the index. Several potential indicators are in the testing mode. As of now the TTS Fear index is proprietary so I can't provide any more details.

I will post a chart of the TTS Fear Index data points and the S&P 500 collected to date in the near future.
