Spread Between Long Term and Intermediate Term Bonds at Record

By on October 19, 2010

Eddy Elfenbein at Crossing Wall Street pointed out that the spread between the 30 year and 10 year treasury bond was at a record 140 basis points, or 1.4%. Looking at the chart at Elfenbein’s site doesn’t give any indication what this means for future stock prices. The spread does seem to have a tendency to spike somewhat after the end of a recession.
