SPDR Portfolio Emerging Markets ETF Allocation Increased

By on August 14, 2019

SPEM August 2019Today’s widespread sell-off allowed an opportunity to increase the position size in the SPDR Portfolio Emerging Markets ETF (SPEM). Cash available was used to re-size the allocation to SPEM from 5.5% to 5.8% in the SMA Portfolio.

A yield curve inversion of the 2-year U. S. treasury yield to the 10-year yield appeared to be a large factor in today’s market weakness where the Dow dropped 800 points. The yield curve inversion has typically signaled oncoming economic weakness and possible recession.

SPEM was purchased at $32.80 and closed the trading session at $32.75.
