By on October 30, 2008

Yesterday, Nouriel Roubini predicted the S&P 500 could fall another 30% from the current level during a two-year economic slowdown. “We are at the beginning of a very severe U.S. recession; it’s going to be much more painful,” New York University professor Roubini said in an interview with Bloomberg Television. “There are still significant downside risks to equity markets and credit markets.” The Fed will probably cut its interest rate target close to zero during that time, he said. Roubini felt that deflation would be the major concern approximately six months from now.
