Jean-Marie Eveillard, "you want to own a combination of common stocks and gold"

By on July 12, 2009

Jean-Marie Eveillard, Senior Advisor, First Eagle Funds, has been around a long time and was a frequent guest on Louis Rukeyser’s Wall Street Week. Eveillard has an enviable long-term track record as a value oriented manager. He recently wrote “Views on the Economic Crisis” and commented on the history leading up to the current crisis, including Japan’s in the 1990’s.

Eveillard gave both sides of the argument on whether the stimulus will pull us out of the downturn and eventually create an inflationary situation. His opinion didn’t lean one way or the other. However, if the economy takes an inflationary path, Eveillard believes investors should concentrate on owning common stocks and gold.
