Demographic Favorites Surprise
Trader’s Narrative has posted an interesting article on the effects of demographics on the stock market. A look at a chart indicates a definite correlation. Ajay Kapur of Mirae Asset coined the “Demi-Ashton” ratio based on the number of middle-aged people divided by younger people. I’ll let you guess where he got the name (just go to the source below if you get frustrated).
The demographic attractiveness of various countries also holds a surprise. Japan has always been denigrated based on the number of old people, but apparently things will be improving there.
