By on May 16, 2017

Richard Bernstein May 2017Today on CNBC, Richard Bernstein, CEO of Richard Bernstein Advisors, commented on the low level of the Volatility Index (VIX). Bernstein said record low levels for the VIX will last for some time. He then said a big spike in the VIX does not occur when central banks provide massive liquidity (the current condition).

“To have a bear market with so much liquidity would be unheard of,” Bernstein stated.

Bernstein said investors were buying into esoteric investments and maintaining a conservative asset allocation because they’re scared and concerned.

Around the world things are getting stronger, Bernstein added. According to Bernstein this is adding to demand for oil.
