$8.85 Trillion in Cash Equals 74% of Stock Market Capitalization

According to research by Steven Leuthold pointed out by Peter Schramm at the Ashbrook Center Blog, there is more cash in relation to the stock market’s value now than at any time since 1990. The eight previous times that cash peaked compared with the market’s capitalization the S&P 500 rose an average 24 percent in six months, data compiled by Bloomberg show.
